A matter of shaders

One of the features of our scene is a beach/shoreline. However, getting it to look right is a bit of an issue, given that the water shader I had been using just had a sharp edge between the water and the land, with no blending of anything. But I managed to find a solution: Unity default water shader ‘Water4’.

While it’s a little more resource heavy that the one I was using – which, given how the water now looks is to be expected – it looks far better. It still has the realtime reflections of the last version, but now it has proper tidal action and a nice blended shoreline. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it has a refraction effect,  but given where the camera is going to be, it shouldn’t be an issue.
